Rick Rippon

Rick Rippon is President of Netrastar, Inc., a company which provides online training and employee evaluation for numerous, companies, police departments and first respond organizations. Netrastar has also been providing the highest level of internet and media design for over 30 years. Mr. Rippon is an award-winning graphic designer with years of experience in web development, marketing, video production, database design, strategic planning and management.

Prior to establishing Netrastar, Inc., Mr. Rippon was employed by the New York Times Company, working for WNEP-TV. After serving as Art Director for six years he was given the position of Broadcast Operations Manager. WNEP-TV has long been ABC Television’s top affiliate and therefore was an important property for the New York Times.

Given the station’s strength and proximity to New York, Philadelphia, and Boston, it was decided that an independent production facility should be established. Mr. Rippon was given the responsibility for creating and managing this new division. With this, he was given exposure to the many issues that any start up company would have.

Within two years SuiteSixteen, the new production company, had become successful enough to be brought into the New York Times corporate arm and was renamed NYT Video Productions.

After the success of this venture, Mr. Rippon was recruited by numerous companies and given a wide array of entrepreneurial opportunities. He took on the responsibility of helping to raise venture capital and create marketable products for a database venture. During this period, Mr. Rippon managed a team of programmers and marketing representatives responsible for creating one of the world’s first video interfaced databases. This experience gave him a unique perspective when creating Netrastar, Inc.

Netrastar Inc. began in 1998 as Netvoice Design Services and was primarily created as a web development company. Since then, the company has expanded into database design, digital advertising, graphic design, video production and most recently, online training.

In 2013, Netvoice officially changed its name to Netrastar, Inc., showing the company’s growing focus toward online training. Three years prior to changing the company name, Netrastar developed a unique daily learning system and online programming designed to teach users vital lessons daily. The system was so well received that the Pennsylvania Department of Safety allowed for Netrastar to issue Continuing Education Credits to First Responders by using the daily learning system.

One of the first organizations to take advantage of the development of this unique system was the Scranton Police Department, followed soon by the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, the Wiles-Barre Fire Department and the Scranton Fire Department along with numerous EMS organizations throughout Pennsylvania. Mr. Rippon has spent significant time working with these organizations developing specific training for each.

Rick Rippon is very active in the community, providing services for the Woman’s Resource Center, Goodwill of NEPA, Friends of the Poor, and other charitable organizations. Mr. Rippon has also served as an adjunct professor of advanced television communications at the University of Scranton, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
