Mikel Taft
Mikel Taft is Chief Business Development Officer of Independent Life Insurance Company, where he leads national sales initiatives across structured settlement and life insurance markets. With over 15 years of experience in settlement planning and insurance leadership, Mikel has been instrumental in helping thousands of injury victims secure financial stability post-litigation. He has overseen more than $2 billion in structured settlement production and spearheaded the growth of Independent Life from its 2018 launch into a leading provider of both fixed and index-linked annuities.
A recognized innovator, Mikel helped create the industry’s first Payee Protection Policy to defend settlement recipients from predatory factoring and contributed to the development of Independent Life’s iStructure platform. He is a Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), Registered Settlement Planner (RSP), and active member of the Society of Settlement Planners and American Association of Settlement Consultants. Mikel holds a master’s degree in Insurance Management from Columbia University.
